Focus on the outcome

If you plan to do something, do it with all you got and don't lose focus on why you're doing it. "Sort of" doing it  makes no sense at all to me. It's a like kid sports that have coaches so focused on winning that you wonder if their intention was really to teach sportsmanship and values after all.

RISK - a four letter word?

If you're waiting for an industry or market to validate your ideas, you will be moving too slow to make a difference.  Too many times developers wait to have their ideas or inventions chosen or proven by another before they take the risk of building it to its full potential.

Don't misinterpret what I am saying.  Many of the best ideas need to be reworked, built upon and enhanced through constructive criticism and a different point-of-view.  But there's a huge difference between good feedback and corporate oppression.

If you have a vision for building a company or product, do it. If you want to build a new software application, build it. No need to wait for someone with a big title to validate your idea.

A good reason to do it...

It is a lot easier to put off a task today for tomorrow's "to do" list.   After all, today's interruption is getting in the way of all of your many more important tasks like watching TV, engaging in useless banter with a co-worker or surfing through your FaceBook account in hopes to find someone who is having a more useless day than you.

So don't waste all that attention and talent, every single day. The fact that it is easy to do something meaningless does not make it meaningful.  Don't reward your wasteful behavior.  I promise you that changing your view will positively change your progress and outlook on the world around you.  It will be the game changer for your personal growth and success.
